Reviews
3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive Clear, 24 fl oz is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hi-Strength 90 & Dupont buytl-based Flashing Hi-Strength 90 is the recommended adhesive for Dupont's butyl-based self-adhesive StraightFlash and FlexWrap window and door flashing. Butyl-based flashings are the best choice to flash and waterproof today's residential PVC/vinyl window flanges because it doesn't interact with the plasticizers in these windows. And it works! With Hi-Strength 90, these flashings bond extremely well to the windows, to problematic OSB sheathing, to plywood sheathing, or to the house wrap. The bond will not let go. After 5 years of leaks, I am now finally leak proof during vicious Georgian Bay storms. Butyl-based flashing is the best flashing material. Cheaper rubberized asphalt (modified butimen) flashings commonly found at building centres are not usually compatible with the plasticizers used in the PVC/vinyl windows and can flow over time (Google it - many spec they can used on "windows". Few say that they can be used with PVC/vinyl windows). They also do not stick to OSB sheathing without help. I tried some and it easily peeled away the next day. Home owners need something that will work for decades. Never allow your builder to use common red tape to flash your house wrap around your windows. It is not approved for window and door flashing and it will fail. Mine leaked after just 2 years (Google "installing and flashing windows correctly").
