S60HS glass bubbles have a density of 0.6 g/cc and an isostatic crush strength of 18000 psi. Average particle size is 30 microns.

Extended Description

3M™ Glass Bubbles S60HS are new, high-strength polymer additives made from a water-resistant and chemically-stable soda-lime-borosilicate glass. These hollow glass microspheres can be used as a low density filler material ideal for plastic and rubber parts created from injection molding, extrusion processes, and/or other vigorous procession equipment (Branbury mixers, etc.).

3M glass bubbles help to reduce weight, reduce noise, vibration, and harmonics; reduce thermal expansion; and contribute to cost savings. They are ideal additive materials in the automotive, truck, rail and aerospace industries.

He also told me when they were developing the bubbles, some of them came out solid. In attempting to find out how to get rid of these "mistakes", they learned how to make them. Solid glass spheres are why signs and road markings glow so brightly when your headlights shine on them. I experimented with the bubbles he gave me and discovered the ones at the surface would break if the part was sanded or tooled. A Perfect way to hold stains on dye resistant resins.
